Passion... for three generations
Agostino comes from a family of fishermen from Mergellina and was part of the family that built the pier he now manages with his sons Raffaele, Francesco, and Alessandro.
The Branchizio name has been around for three generations, ever since the old fishermen divided up the stretch of sea to complement their fishing activities with the rental of small wooden boats called canoes, rented to tourists and beachgoers. These were the postwar years, and each managed their own space, giving rise to the now-widespread phenomenon of charters.
Agostino, the youngest of seven children, began to relieve his father Raffaele's burdens as a child, helping him with fishing and maintaining the canoes, spending the winter months repainting and repairing them, like a true master shipwright.
In the early 1960s, Agostino dedicated himself to building the pier, working day and night to increase, meter by meter, the space needed for his business.
Later, with the help of his brothers, to whom he passed on his passion for the sea and his work, he combined charter with the mooring and storage of private boats.
Today, that self-managed stretch of sea has become a well-equipped port, sought after by tourists and VIPs from around the world and occupied by numerous vessels.
